1 glass christmas bauble, 5 ways (archive)

As I write this, bells are ringing from the nearby church – which always reminds me of Christmas (even though they ring every day…) and so I’m most definitely in the mood to kick off Christmassy things on The Happy Home. First up – glass fillable baubles. I love these guys and was so excited when I spotted them at the Spotlight Christmas launch way back in July. I knew I’d stock up on them and I have – $6.99 for a pack of 6, so I grabbed 3 packets (so far!). They’re great. And can be filled with various things to suit your style/colourway/theme. Here are 5 ways I decorated them from the inside.

And here’s how they turned out. Let’s ignore the fact poor old sequins got left out of the nice neat four pack…

But there are endless ways to fill them – confetti, strips of coloured paper, fake snow, glitter with tiny trees (try Hobby stores or places you buy model trains for miniature trees or other mini things), nature, tiny stones or beads – I’ve even seen them filled beautifully with 100s and 1000s (squirt some glue in first!). Or just swirl around the perfect shade of Hermes orange paint or Tiffany blue – whatever colour you wish.
I love that I already had a bunch of items already at home that all went together perfectly with the tinsel I bought from Spotlight. It’s such a pretty colour and kicked off the colourway, not that I’ve decided on what colours I’ll actually go with this year when we do Christmas for real. That’s always a last-minute thing… Here are the tools I used for those wondering about brands of paint/glue.
